Abhinav Krishnan
Junior, American Heritage School (Broward Campus)
Abhinav Krishnan is a high school junior at American Heritage School in Plantation, Florida, who is deeply interested in service, advocacy, and learning from the communities he works with. His involvement in maternal and child health began locally, where he serves on the Teen Council of the Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Broward County. Through this role, he has had the opportunity to contribute ideas, support outreach efforts, and help with initiatives aimed at supporting mothers and families in the community.
In addition to participating in council discussions, Abhinav has assisted with grant-writing efforts, helped plan teen-focused outreach strategies, and taken part in donation drives that benefit mothers and newborns. These experiences have allowed him to better understand how community-based organizations operate and how collaboration can make a real difference at the local level.
Motivated by this work, Abhinav sought ways to extend his impact beyond his immediate community. He became involved with the Global Student Chapter of the Auromir Foundation for Integral Learning in India, a nonprofit organization that works to support underprivileged women and children through education and community development. Through this involvement, he aims to learn from global perspectives on education and health while contributing where he can.
As part of his commitment, Abhinav has chosen to donate his tutoring earnings from Kumon to support the foundation’s initiatives. He is also working on developing simple, engaging educational materials for children and hopes to continue offering hands-on support during future visits.
Abhinav’s experiences—both locally and internationally—have helped shape his growing interest in maternal and child health advocacy. He remains eager to learn, listen, and contribute meaningfully, while continuing to explore how thoughtful service can create lasting change.
